Meet Brickwall

I’m Eric—but you can call me Brickwall (if you want).

I wasn’t always Brickwall. Growing up, I was skinny—150 lbs soaking wet at 6’1″. I played basketball and lifted here and there, but it was never serious.

In my 20s, I jumped between workouts, never sticking with anything long enough to see results. Aside from some noob gains, I stayed stuck in “fit-ish” limbo.

In my early 30s, I got certified as a personal trainer. Like many, I got swept up in the “functional fitness” trend. I looked down on guys who trained for muscle mass, used machines, or skipped the latest compound core craze.

But around 35, it hit me: I didn’t want balance exercises. I wanted muscle.

So I ditched the dogma, focused on hypertrophy—and surprise: I got bigger. I got more aesthetic. I got stronger. But I also felt better. My joints stopped hurting. My energy surged. I became more capable, more confident, more me.

Turns out building muscle isn’t just healthy—it’s damn functional. Who knew?

Why Brickwall?

Besides sounding totally badass, there are a few reasons behind the name.

For starters, a friend of mine once remarked that I’m built like a brick wall. I’ve never forgotten that, and it kind of stuck.

A brick wall is also incredibly strong, resilient, and steadfast in what it does, qualities that are necessary for building muscle, or building anything in life, really.

Also, I believe things are built brick by brick, or little by little, one step at a time. A big strong resilient brick wall isn’t built quickly in one go, or in a day or two. No, you build it brick by brick over time. Same with your body, same with anything.

It’s also very unique and frankly a little bit ridiculous, which helps me stand out in the very crowded online world.

It’s just kind of the perfect nickname for me and what I’m all about.
